Business and Management mentor programme
Personalised alumni support to optimise your career prospects
Aim of the scheme
Challenges can be involved in transitioning into the working world, and sometimes you need career guidance from role models who have been through it themselves.
By matching you with experienced alumni mentors who have had a similar start to their career journey, our Business and Management mentoring programme helps you develop your career. In three one-on-one virtual meetings, mentors support current students as they transition from graduate to professional. Students can benefit from key advice, job support, and specialist industry insights while mentors can also boost confidence and highlight opportunities.
How can mentors help you?
You'll be matched with a mentor who can help guide your development and have objectives focused on your needs and goals.
You will have access to:
- Career advice — Benefit from CV advice, how to approach assessment centres, where to find jobs in a range of sectors, how to stand out on an interview, what skills employers value, how to secure placements, and applying for graduate job schemes.
- Transition tips — Explore the key skills you may need to transition from graduate to professional. How can you get ahead of the curve and hit the ground running?
- Industry insights — Hear graduates share their own career experiences and journeys, current trends, and what skills are required to succeed in specific industries and companies.
- Networking — How to expand your professional network, create a strong personal brand on LinkedIn, and network in-person and digitally.
- Friendly mentors — Work with approachable mentors, ask questions in an informal 1-to-1 setting and, discover opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Who are the mentors?
Mentors are all alumni of the Business School who have also experienced the same journey and are now embedded in the business realm. Mentors want to give back and are volunteering to help students at a crucial time in their development.
Mentors are ideally placed to offer guidance based on their experience and expertise, providing insights into a broad range of industries with participating alumni from companies such as Audi, PriceWaterHouseCoopers, Balfour Beatty, and Jacobs Media Group.
