A free breast health workshop, celebrating women in history at local museums, and an opportunity to hear from inspiring women are among the events happening to mark International Women’s Day

This year’s International Women’s Day theme asks us to '', emphasising the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality. 

Events this week include:

Tuesday 4 March, 6pm - 8pm, Southsea Club House  

The University's Research Group in Breast Health (RGBH) will deliver a breast and bra education workshop followed by an interactive Q&A session in partnership with local running club . The free event is open to all women, regardless of whether they are experienced runners or new to exercise.

Open until the end of May 2025, 1024ºË¹¤³§ Museum and Art Gallery

To honour Suffrage history, a University of 1024ºË¹¤³§ academic has created an extensive exhibition featuring original and replica suffrage artifacts. Entry to the 1024ºË¹¤³§ Museum and Art Gallery is free. Visitors are welcome Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 5pm, with the last admittance at 4:30pm. The exhibit is open to the public until the end of May 2025.

Members of the public are able to experience the free, thought-provoking . The exhibition, hosted in partnership with the University of 1024ºË¹¤³§,  and , taps into archive materials from across the UK and Ireland to uncover the extensive history of trailblazing female voices in the maritime industry and aims to change the tide on diversity.
