The Centre for Cybercrime and Economic Crime has announced the dates for the 14th Counter Fraud, Cybercrime and Forensic Accounting Conference, to be held in-person at the 1024ºË¹¤³§ over two days on Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 June 2025.

This will be another unique event in the calendar of cybercrime and economic crime conferences in which invited speakers can propose papers to present to fellow practitioners, public and private organisations, academics and researching peers. The aim is to network, share our research and insights into ideas, approaches and techniques and tools that help to inform fellow scholars and professionals on important debates in the fields of cybercrime, economic crime and forensic accounting.

There will be a limited number of slots available for those who have conducted research or have innovative ideas to present papers at the conference. We are interested in papers on aspects relating to cybercrime, cybersecurity and information risk management, countering fraud and corruption, anti-money laundering, and forensic accounting.

We would particularly invite submissions on:

  • New crime threats and policing challenges relating to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning;
  • The application of blockchain technologies in public and/or private sectors and associated risks;
  • Emerging frauds;
  • Cross-border responses to fraud, cybercrime and economic crime;
  • Disinformation/misinformation and elections;
  • How cybercrime and cybersecurity are impacted by global conflicts;
  • Crime associated with freeports and free-trade zones;
  • Beneficial ownership transparency;
  • Protecting intellectual property rights;
  • Crime and deviance in Metaverse environments;
  • The role of forensic accounting techniques in combating fraud and cybercrime;
  • Investigations of Smart Machines;
  • The Use of AI and Machine learning for the predictions and investigations of  crimes;
  • The Integration of Forensic Accounting with Cybersecurity in Detecting Fraud in Digital Payment Systems;

This year our conference will feature a stream with more technical papers addressing the topics above, so please feel free to submit papers in more technical disciplines and share with relevant colleagues and networks.

We also encourage master’s and doctoral students working in the above fields to submit abstracts to present posters on a relevant topic, with the strongest submissions considered for a speaker slot.

If you are interested in speaking at our conference, please submit the following by 12:00pm midday on Friday 17 January 2025 to the Centre email account: ccec@port.ac.uk:

  1. Your name (including any title) and institution/organisation.
  2. The names, titles and institution/organisation of any co-authors (please specify if they will be co-presenting should your paper be selected).
  3. A short abstract/paragraph of your proposed paper or poster (max 200 words).
  4. Biographies for yourself and any co-presenters (max 200 words each).

We would also welcome panel suggestions on the aforementioned topics. If there is a particular session you would like to organise please submit:

  1. Your name (including any title) and institution/organisation.
  2. A short abstract/paragraph detailing your proposed panel (max 200 words).
  3. A brief biography (max 200 words).
  4. A suggested speaker list.

If any of the above elements are missing in your submission then consideration will not be given.
