I am an architect, artist and part-time Senior Lecturer.
Previously, I tutored at Cambridge University and the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff alongside practising architecture at Hampshire County Architects Department in Winchester, and at Allies and Morrison and Colquhoun and Miller, Architects in London.
I studied at Sheffield University, BA (Hons) first class and at the Royal College of Art in London, MA (RCA), I qualified (RIBA part 3) and was elected to corporate membership of the Royal Institute of British Architects on 31 January 1990. In February 2010 I also became a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Research interests
My research interests include examining how an understanding of attributes of ‘place’ can inform Architecture, Art and Design Education, Identity and Practice. Exposing narratives and collective memory through making and cartographic transaction in order to articulate identity and inform contemporary place-based design that resonates in place. Working in collaborative practice with local stakeholders and exhibiting in the public realm.
Working mainly to commission, my paintings are in both public and private ownership
Teaching responsibilities
Tina teaches in the masters of architecture second year and currently is working with Nicola Crowson in the Architectural Dream Factory. This studio will explore the making and materiality of spatial practice. The factory is a place for agency and action, a place to explore knowledge proved through the pulses (Keats), to think through making.
During previous years Tina has worked with Dr Elisabeth Tuson and Tod Wakefield (2009 - 2016) in the Architecture, Culture and Identity studio, from 2016 - 2019, she worked with Pablo Martinez Capdevila re-Imagining Winchester and Southampton.
The work of her postgraduate studios has been exhibited in the public realm from 2016 and involved collaboration with local stakeholders. The intention is to continue this pattern of working and research through making.
Tina also teaches Architecture undergraduate second year where she runs programmes with Nicola Crowson. In 2019 the second year also exhibited their work in the public realm in 100 visions of Hayling Island.
Tina is also part of the School of Architecture Education and outreach team and used to sit on the academic leadership panel.
