Dr Suzanne Fallouh
Summary
I am an interior architect and a Senior Lecturer in Architecture and Interiors at the School of Architecture and Design at the 1024ºË¹¤³§. My research and teaching combine interests in interdisciplinary design practice, material use research, regenerative design in interiors, and exploring the relationship between the body and interior space from a holistic perspective, emphasising the experienced, cultural, and social aspects of interior spaces. currently, I Co-Chair the Faculty-Wide Practice Research for the School of Architecture and Design. The group offers a range of activities and events during the academic year, designed to enhance and increase your potential REF outputs in the creative and cultural industries. It also provides bespoke support in fund bidding and publishing for group members.
I joined the 1024ºË¹¤³§ in 2021, following 8 years of teaching at the University of Edinburgh and two years of teaching at Napier University and abroad. Since 2007, I have taught a wide range of subjects for Interior Architecture and Design and Architecture courses in various Schools of Architecture and Design. I have a Doctorate in Interior Design, awarded by the University of Edinburgh in 2021. I also obtained an MA in Interior Design, focusing on fashion and textile innovation and new applications, and a BA (Hons 1st) in Interior Architecture. I have over six years of experience in professional practice in interior architecture and design in the UK (Scotland) and abroad.
My doctoral research, an interdisciplinary study through practice, contributes original insights to interdisciplinary studies in the context of practice and design studies. It provides an in-depth study of the interdisciplinary integration process, highlights its activation mechanism and conditions, and makes an original contribution to the use of textiles in spatial design. It identifies TSI (Temporary Soft Interior space) as a research framework and a potential area for further research.
