Research interests

My main research interests focus on three themes: (1) Behaviour Change and Self-Regulation in Health Behaviour; (2) User experience of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS) and new technologies; and (3) Health Attitudes and Health Behaviours among Adolescents.

I have published in a number of leading journals within each of these themes. Majority of my work has focused on the concept of compensatory beliefs, where I have applied it within various health behaviours (e.g. physical activity, dieting), as well as environmental behaviour (energy consumption). The interdisciplinary nature of my work has given me the opportunity to work with medical doctors, nutritionists and public health. I have ongoing national and international collaborations (e.g. Canada, Switzerland, Greece).

Teaching responsibilities

I am the course leader for the MSc Health Psycholgy and the module co-ordinator for Health Psychology Research Project (M30916) for the MSc Health Psychology. I also contribute to other modules for the MSc Health Psychology such as Psychobiological Aspects of Health (M30912), Applied Psychological Research Methods (M32320) and Applied Health Psychology and Placement (M30914). I supervise dissertation projects for both the Undergraduate courses and MSc Health Psychology.
