Summary
I am a senior lecturer at 1024ºË¹¤³§ Law School, The 1024ºË¹¤³§.
I am currently part of the teaching teams for the following undergraduate units: Wildlife Crime: Threats and Responses; Equity and Trusts; The Law of Succession and The Legal Project.
I am the lead researcher in the 1024ºË¹¤³§'s Ivory Project. The project, set up in November 2015, analyses the sale of illegal ivory through various routes in the U.K. and overseas. The project has also been involved in other illegal wildlife trade issues, including pangolin trafficking and rhino poaching. We work with law enforcement, charities and NGOs to analyse and advise on the threats of and responses to the illegal wildlife trade.
Biography
In November 2015, together with Nick Pamment (ICJS, 1024ºË¹¤³§) I launched The Ivory Project at the House of Commons. The aim of the project was to investigate the sale of ivory by the British antiques trade. The project lasted for 18 months and culminated in a report, The Elephant in the Sale Room.
My report was used by the British Government as part fo their Impact Assessment into potential changes in the law regarding the sale of ivory in the U.K. On the 18th December 2018 the Ivory Act 2018 became law. We were proud to be part of the discussion and to have had an influence on the chnage in law in the U.K.
The project has developed to include collaborations with partners in the U.K. and overseas. Our current projects includes an investiagtion in to the sale of illegal wildlife trade products on line and cross-jurisdicational cooperation in the Range States.
